The price you see online is dependent on the information that you give us about your car. We make this price as accurate as possible, but it's not until we see your car and give it an onsite inspection that we can offer you a final price for your car, so the valuation should not be construed as a contract.

When you arrive at your appointment, a member of our staff will check over your car to make sure it matches the details you supplied online.  If it does, we’ll confirm that the initial valuation was correct. If you wish to sell to us, we will transfer the money to your bank account.

If there are any discrepancies between your car and the details you gave us, or, if during the inspection, we consider that its value is affected by any aspect of its history or condition, including any unusual feature or customisation, which was not apparent to us when we gave the online valuation, the price that we offer for it will differ from the online valuation.

So that we don’t waste your time, if there is a change in the market value of your car resulting in a reduced valuation, then we endeavour to let you know what the new valuation is at least 24 hours before your appointment, so that you have the opportunity to cancel, if you choose to do so.

It's worth remembering that our ideal goal is to buy your car at a price that makes you happy and would make you want to sell with us again in the future.

We hold information on all UK cars manufactured since 1982. If you are unable to find your car it may be because:

  • Your car is not of UK origin
  • It's a van or commercial vehicle - please head over to www.webuyanyvan.com
  • Your car is over 25 years old

If you can't get an online valuation from our website you can contact us with your car details (make, model, mileage, and condition) and a contact number and a member of our customer services team will be pleased to get back to you with a valuation.

Please do not choose the nearest model to your car in an attempt to obtain an online valuation as this will not reflect an accurate valuation for your car.

There is no transaction fee if you choose not to sell your car to us.

If you do decide to sell to us, then a transaction fee may apply at the point of sale. The transaction fee depends on the final price:

  • There is no transaction fee applicable for cars valued below £124.99 (subject to minimum valuation of £75)
  • A transaction fee of £49.99 is applicable for vehicles valued at £125.00 to £4999.99
  • Where the Price is £5,000 or more, the transaction fee is £74.99

There is no transaction fee if you choose not to sell your car to us.

If you do decide to sell to us, then a transaction fee may apply at the point of sale. The transaction fee depends on the final price.

We guarantee your price for 7 days, so any valuation you have which is older than 7 days will no longer be valid.

The car market changes on a daily basis and we adjust our prices daily to match demand. Also, it's likely that you would have increased the mileage on your car, so we would issue a new valuation.

We want to take away the hassle from selling a car, so the price you're given is valid for 7 days. If you sell your car to us within those 7 days, and your car is in the condition that you say it is,  we’ll pay the price we've quoted you online.

In order to get the most accurate valuation we advise you re-enter your car details onto our site to get an up-to-date valuation.

If you sell your car to us and have notified the DVLA you will automatically get a refund for any full remaining months left on the vehicle tax, you will not need to make a separate application for a refund. The DVLA will send this refund to the address of the registered keeper.

Your car is unique, and so is your valuation.

Our valuations start by using your car registration to tell us all about your car. The exact make and model, how old is it, what size engine it has , if it is a petrol or a diesel, you get the idea. All of these factors influence how much money your car is worth.

We combine that with some information that you give us about your car such as the mileage, the service history and the colour. Yes, colour can make a difference, along with all the little things that some valuation engines just won't consider such as if your car has leather seats or a panoramic sunroof.

Using all of this information we look at the prices that cars just like yours are selling for and give you a price that we're willing to pay for your car.

We always carry out an on-site inspection of a vehicle before we offer to buy it. If we consider that its value is affected by any aspect of its history or condition, including any unusual feature or customisation, which was not apparent to us when we gave the online valuation, the price that we offer for it will differ from the online valuation.

Any standard features which come with a vehicle are already accounted for and are identified by our valuation system which is generated from the registration number. For confirmation of what extras may affect the value of your vehicle please visit your local We Buy Any Car branch for a full appraisal.

Simple online appointment booking
Once you have your online valuation it's really easy to book your appointment. By using your postcode we'll show the branches we have closest to you, the days and times they are open, and how many appointments we have available. You can then choose a branch, day and time for you appointment through our website and we'll confirm your appointment by email.

If you don’t book your appointment straight away, the quickest way for you to do this at a later stage would be to simply click on the link in your initial valuation email, select which branch you would like to visit and on what date and time.

All of our appointments are free, with no obligation
We guarantee we are willing to buy every car we value, but this doesn't mean that when you book an appointment you have to sell your car to us. We'll do an inspection of your vehicle at the branch, confirm the valuation and talk you through the sale process. If for any reason you don’t want to sell your car to us there’s no charge and no obligation.

No appointment needed
Booking an appointment makes sure that we'll be ready for your arrival and will have the time to inspect your car at the branch. But if you are just passing a branch then you can pop in and speak to us whenever you like.

We provide detailed directions to all of our branches as well as a full address with postcode on the Branch Locator page of the website.

You will also be able to find further details on where your branch is within your Appointment Confirmation email.

Appointments are not always necessary, so if you haven't made an appointment online, you can just call into your local branch.

We do however advise that you check with the branch before you travel to ensure that they are open and you are not waiting around.

You can find your local branches contact details and opening times by using our branch locator

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to offer a standard service to visit you at your home address; so you would need to make your own arrangements to get the car to your nearest drop-off point.

However, if you were to contact some local transport agents in your area, I'm sure they will be able to assist.

  • Your car. It may sound obvious, but you’ll need to be able to get your car to the appointment. We don't currently offer a collection service.

  • The V5 logbook/registration certificate. This must be registered in the name of the current keeper. If the V5 logbook/registration certificate is still in the owner's maiden name, you will need to bring a copy of your marriage certificate.

  • Two forms of identification. One must be an original photo ID (such as a passport) and one should be a proof of address item (accepted forms include a utility bill or council tax letter dated within the last 9 months). These must match the name and address on the vehicle logbook.

  • All service history and MOT certificates if available.

  • Both sets of car keys. Unless you've told us otherwise, the valuation provided assumes you have 2 sets of keys for your vehicle. If you've only got 1 key, the price we offer you after inspection may be reduced.

  • Bank details. So we can pay you for your car. The account has to be in the name of the registered keeper.
  • Finance settlement letter. If the vehicle has any finance outstanding we need a letter with the settlement figure from the finance company to be able to buy the vehicle.

  • Any extras that we’ll need. Such as the locking wheel nut for the alloy wheels where fitted, any detachable fascias and security codes for the radio, the security code for obtaining replacement keys and any discs required for the satellite navigation system.

You can reschedule an appointment by using the link in your appointment confirmation email, or by visiting the Manage My Appointment page on our website.

From here you can choose a new time, day or branch to suit you. If you need to cancel your appointment you will also be able to do so.

The selling process usually takes approximately 20 minutes.

You will accompany one of our trained vehicle purchasers to your car whilst they conduct an inspection of the vehicle. A short test drive may also be undertaken at which point you will be invited to accompany the vehicle purchaser.

Please note that a road tax licence (valid tax disc) must be in place in order for us to test drive your car. If we can’t test drive the car, it will affect the price we can offer.

After the test drive, you return inside the office where the vehicle purchaser will offer you a price for your car.

The price may differ from your online valuation if we consider that its value is affected by any aspect of its history or condition, including any unusual features or customisation, which was not apparent to us when we gave the online valuation.

If you are happy and wish to sell your car to us, the vehicle purchaser will complete all the necessary paper work for the sale.

When you arrive at your appointment you'll meet one of our experienced vehicle purchasers who will do an on-site inspection to check your car against the details you've supplied, take it for a test drive and confirm the valuation.

The below video explains a bit more about what to expect.

So there you have it.

The whole process usually takes just 20 minutes. Once the vehicle purchaser has explained your valuation you can decide if you would like to sell to us. No haggle, no hassle, and no obligation.

If you do decide to sell your car we arrange for the money to be paid in to your bank account, complete some paperwork and complete the sale. We can even usually arrange for a local taxi to come and collect you if you need.

If you think you are going to be late, we should still be able to accommodate you and your vehicle when you arrive and effectively carry out your appointment.

In every scenario we'll do our very best to accomodate you as soon as possible but depending on how busy we are, it may be necessary to book a new appointment.

If you have had an appointment booking time confirmed
If possible, please wait at the branch you have the appointment booked for around 10 minutes and one of our vehicle purchasers should be along shortly. They will either be dealing with another customer or running late from a previous purchase. Alternatively, please call our vehicle purchaser from your alternative (next closet) branch for further details on why the branch you are at appears to be closed. You can find details for this particular branch on our Branch Locator page

If you are a walk in
Please visit your local Branch Page to see if the branch you are at is open at the specific time you have arrived. If yes, please wait for around 10 minutes and a vehicle purchaser should be with you shortly. If not, feel free to come back or book an appointment when the branch is stated as being open.

So it's best to arrange your transport home prior to your appointment, or we can arrange for a local taxi to come and collect you if you'd like.

At present, we only buy cars registered in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We realise this can be an incredibly emotional and stressful time and we can help make this process easy.

To satisfy due diligence we will require certain documents depending upon the individual circumstances.

Find out more information here

Yes, but if you are selling on behalf of a relative or friend then we require a letter of authorisation from the owner.

The bank details must match the same name as the registered keeper on the V5 logbook/registration certificate and documentation of these account details is required at the point of sale. We also need two forms of ID for the owner (one original photo ID and one proof of address items dated in the last 9 months) and two forms of ID from the person selling the vehicle on their behalf (one original photo ID and one proof of address items dated in the last 3 months).

Yes, we will need you to bring along the following:

  • A form of photo identification for the person bringing the car.
  • Letter signed from the company director giving authorisation for that person to sell on their behalf.
  • Company account details e.g. bank paying in book or company bank statement.
  • One form of identification for the business address.
  • Both sets of car keys if available.
  • All service history and MOT certificates if available.
  • V5 logbook/registration certificate registered in the company's name and address.

Further documentation may be required, however you will be advised of this prior to visiting your local branch.

We will still buy your car as long as it is registered in the UK. Bear in mind that models and specifications vary from country to country, so the price may differ from that of a UK supplied car in some circumstances.

There are two types of import: a "parallel" import (i.e. purchased within the EU) and a "grey" import (i.e. purchased outside the EU).

Cars which are parallel imports can be valued normally through www.webuyanycar.com online.

However, "grey" imports will require a manual valuation. If your car is a "grey" import it's not a problem - simply email us with the details which can be found on your V5 registration document and a member of our customer services team will be in touch.

We can arrange settlement of any outstanding finance on your car.

For us to do this we will need you to provide an in date letter detailing a current settlement figure from your finance company.

The settlement amount will be deducted from the amount paid to you for your car.

We will pay your finance company within 4 working days after the day of sale, however it may take your finance company 5-10 working days to credit the funds to your account and provide final clearance.

If you owe more on your finance than the value of the car, we will still be happy to buy the car, but you will need to pay us the shortfall by debit card when we purchase your car.

We'll be happy to give you a valuation and buy your car whilst it has a personalised registration.

However, if you want to keep your private plate it's easy to reassign it to another car or to put the registration onto a retention certificate so that it can be sold or reassigned at a later date. You would need to complete this with the DVLA prior to selling to us.

To find out more about personalised registrations and locate your local DVLA office, visit the DVLA website

Also, We Buy Any Car do not specialise in private plates and therefore selling the vehicle to us with or without a private registration plate will not positively affect the valuation offered.

The V5 (log book) holds the details of the registered keeper of the vehicle. To prevent fraud, we will only purchase a vehicle from you if it is your name on the V5.

If you wish to sell your car and there is a legitimate reason why you are not the registered keeper, please contact us with full details and we'll do our best to help.

We understand that there may be times when your current address does not match the address that is detailed on your V5. If this is the case, please provide your Vehicle Purchaser with a proof of address that matches the address that is on your V5 as well a proof of address that matches your current address.

Payment will be made directly to your bank account within 4 working days after the day of sale, using our standard electronic bank transfer service. There is no charge for this service.

We also offer a next working day payment service at an additional fee of £24.75.

On the odd occasion, your payment may not be processed on the date specified. The most common reason for this is due to discrepancies in the vehicle documentation being observed following the purchase. The branch where you sold the vehicle will have been made aware of the delay and will endeavour to contact you to resolve the matter.

However, if you have not been contacted by the branch and you have still not received your payment please do not hesitate to contact the branch using the contact details on the Branch Locator page of the We Buy Any Car website

We will be happy to settle the outstanding loan with logbook loans as part of the transaction however you would need them to release the V5 to you prior to the sale as this will be required when you attend the branch.

You would need to bring along to your appointment a letter detailing a current settlement figure from logbook loans. The settlement amount will be deducted from the amount paid to you for your car.

Alternatively, if your settlement figure is higher than the value of your vehicle, then you can pay the difference to us by debit/credit card and we will settle the full amount direct to your finance company.

If however, you wish to settle the outstanding loan yourself we would need written confirmation from Logbook Loans confirming clearance prior to us purchasing your car.

If you work in the motor trade and wish to sell a vehicle you run for your private use, we would be happy to buy it. We would not purchase vehicles from your own stock or that you would sell in the general course of your business.

If you have been the registered keeper for less than 2 months and your vehicle is valued over £3,000 or you have been the registered keeper for less than 4 months and your vehicle is valued at £10,000 or above then we may require a copy of your original purchase invoice which should be from a recognised dealer.

If we require anything in addition to your purchase invoice, we will endeavour to advise you prior to your appointment.

We cannot accept proof of purchase from an Auction House.

We are unable to purchase any car without the original V5 document (log book).

If you do not have one you can obtain a new document by filling in form V62 which you can download from the DVLA or pick up from any Post Office.

The completed form and appropriate fee should be sent to DVLA, Swansea SA99 1AR. It normally takes 3 to 4 weeks to obtain a new V5.

We offer a no obligation service, so if the price we offer to you isn't what you are looking for, you always have the option not to accept the offer and walk away. It is not until the invoice has been signed by both parties that the purchase is complete. Once the invoice has been signed by both parties, we do not rescind a contract.
