Driverless Cars Will Become The New Way To Market To Consumers

A new survey reveals that driverless cars will become the new way to market to consumers. The OnePoll survey, conducted by, asked 2000 UK motorists who currently drive to and from work what they would do during a commute in a fully autonomous car.

The results reveal that motorists want to shop online, browsing social media, and access entertainment services during their commute in fully autonomous cars. A quarter of all respondents (25%) would shop online whilst commuting in a fully autonomous car, and a third (34%) would spend their time browsing social media.

British motorists also want access to entertainment including TV, film, podcasts and video games during their commute in driverless cars. Almost a quarter of motorists (24%) would watch TV, 18% would watch films, 27% would listen to podcasts, and 16% would play video games.

When breaking the responses down by age, the survey reveals that millennials are the target demographic for marketing in driverless cars. Almost a quarter (22%) of 18 to 24 year olds would shop online in driverless cars, and 28% would browse social media.

When it comes to entertainment, the responses are also highest amongst millennials. 19% of respondents aged between 18 and 24 would watch TV in driverless cars, 14% would watch films, 17% would listen to podcasts, and 1 in 10 would play video games.

Richard Evans, the head of Technical Services at WBAC said “The results from our survey show that commuters already see driverless cars as an extension of their living space. Fully autonomous cars will soon become the new way to market to consumers, especially millennials, as there is already demand for online shopping, access to social media, and entertainment services within driverless vehicles.”
