Urus: Lamborghini’s first SUV in over 20 years

New Lamborghini Urus hits production lines

We didn’t think we’d see another SUV from Lamborghini any time soon (the last one was the Rambo Lambo over 20 years ago) this week we were surprised with the announcement that the Lamborghini Urus is officially going into production and will be available in 2018 at an expected price of £135,000.

Lamborghini are obviously renowned for making supercars, but here’s three reasons why we’re excited for the Urus.

1. POWER: Lamborghini are aiming for the Urus to be the fastest SUV on the market, clocking in at 600 horsepower. Coming from a company who has produced models such as the Veneno, Aventador and Diablo GT-R we don’t think this will be a problem for the Urus.

2. TECHNOLOGY: Not only will the Urus have a phenomenal amount of power, it is also expected to be one of the most kitted out machines on the market. Cameras and TV screens are set to replace wing mirrors and an adjustable spoiler will optimize aerodynamics. Fancy.

3. GREEN MACHINE: Even though on the surface the Urus doesn’t sound like the most environmentally friendly car – expected to do 0 to 60mph in about 3 seconds – this isn’t the case. Lamborghini are going all out to make sure that the Urus will emit the lowest levels of CO2 compared to other SUVs on the market. It’s also rumoured that the Urus could have a turbocharged or plug-in hybrid system – a first for Lamborghini.

What do you think? Do you think the new Urus will be the model to push the SUV market in a new direction? Leave us a comment below!
