Top 10 Most Memorable Car TV Adverts

Top 10 Most Memorable Car TV Adverts

From the famous French and shaking behinds to singing dogs and moving cogs, we take a look at the most memorable TV adverts for cars that have hit our screens over the past few years.

1. Renault Clio – Nicole and Papa

Of course, who doesn’t remember this? A series of adverts featuring French characters Nicole and Papa ran between 1991 ans 1998. We asked the WBAC HQ team and this came top of the poll!

2. Peugeot 206 – The Sculptor

The is one of my favourites. A man longs for a Peugeot 206 THAT much he “sculpts” his car into the shape of one using any means possible. The result? A car that somewhat resembles the popular model.

3. Renault Megane – I See You Baby

With a song like this on the TV advert who wasn’t going to remember it? It’s a cheeky way of promoting the back-end of the Megane with its distinctive rear design.

4. Volkswagen Passat – The Force

Tapping into the Star Wars phenomenon, this advert perfectly captured the minds of kids and adults. And it’s got a really heartwarming touch to it too.

5. Skoda Fabia – The Cake

Apparently the new Fabia was “full of lovely stuff”…just like cakes are! The advert showed a baking team meticulously baking and icing a life-sized Skoda Fabia cake!

6. Honda Accord – The Cog

With their motto of “Isn’t it nice when things just work?” this advert summed it up perfectly, featuring an assembly line of car parts which took six months of filming.

7. Ford Puma – Steve McQueen

The use of CGI and original footage made it possible for the late Steve McQueen to take centre stage in this advert.

8. Volkswagen Polo – Singing Dog

I loved this one! It showed a a Jack Russell full of confidence singing at the top of his voice when inside the car, but feeling shy when he’s elsewhere. This TV ad actually received over 500 complaints about animal cruelty and was dropped.

9. Austin Montego – Doesn’t Hang About

Back in 1987, Austin wanted to highlight the Montego’s key features – winding sunroof, stereo system and five speed gearbox – they did so by using a stunt driver.

10. Vauxhal Zafira and Meriva – Little Dads

Running from 2005, it flipped parenthood on its head and showed boys as the responsible Fathers of the family. A great family focused TV ad!

And here’s a little bonus TV advert for you…! Who remembers this?!
