Early years (2006-2009)
webuyanycar was founded in 2006 by Noel and Darren McKee with the aim of offering a fast, dependable car buying service – and an alternative to part-exchange and traditional private car selling.
Our intuitive website and convenient service quickly caught on with the motoring public. In 2009, we launched our very first TV ad campaign, which featured a breakdancing newsreader. As brand awareness grew, so did demand; in the same year, our 100,000th customer sold their car with us!
webuyanyvan joins the family (2010)
In 2010, we expanded into a new market – and started offering used van owners the same proven service as our car-selling customers through our sister website, webuyanyvan.
Continued growth and success (2013-2019)
In 2013, webuyanycar was sold to the used car marketplace, British Car Auctions (BCA) – and in 2015, BCA was floated on the UK stock market.
In November 2019, private equity group, TDR Capital completed the purchase of webuyanycar’s parent company, BCA.
Just Sold My Car (2022-2024)
After months of hard work, we launched our “Just Sold My Car” TV and radio campaign on Christmas Day 2022. Featuring Mufasa’s dance moves and a catchy reimagining of “Friday” by Riton and Nightcrawlers, the jingle quickly became a hit.
4 million customers and beyond (2024)
With strong brand recognition and over 500 branches, webuyanycar is a leading choice for those looking to sell their car quickly and easily with a guaranteed sale.
In November 2024, we hit another major milestone as the 4,000,000th customer sold their car with us!
