You might have noticed by now that we LOVE Phillip Schofiled. Whenever we find ourseleves pondering over a hard decision we ask ourselves, ‘what would Phil do?’. In an ideal world everyone would have a Phil in their lives, ready to give them advice and to help make sense of this crazy world. And that’s when it hit us. What if you really did have a little Phil, perched on your shoulder, dishing out advice, being your voice of reason. In the magical world of TV, anything is possible. So we shrunk Phil down to the size of a robin red breast.
When you’re working with the kind of cutting edge science that allows you to shrink one of the nation’s treasures, you have to take advantage of it. Looking to make the most of our time with Tiny Phil, we decided to make two adverts with him. Hence you see Tiny Phil star in both our Forecourt and Showroom adverts.
Months of planning went into the final Forecourt and Showroom adverts you see on your TV screens. When the idea to shrink Phil was born, the concept development started in the same way it does for all our adverts, with just a pencil and a talented storyboard artist. Below are some of drawings that were created in the early stages of planning for the ads.

If you’re thinking some of the faces in both our Forecourt and Showroom adverts look familiar, you may well have seen them on your screens before. Janice (Katharine Bennett-Fox), our Showroom customer, has stared in TV shows Grantchester, Doctors and Holby City. Billy (Bruce Mackinnon), the customer in our Forecourt advert, has featured in Black Mirror, Benidorm and even the award winning, Bohemian Rhapsody movie.
