Audi A5

The new generation of Audi A5 has seen a great improvement over older models. While A5 models manufactured since 2012 aren’t noticeably different in terms of performance, there have been plenty of refinements in terms of design, economy and eco-friendliness.

The Audi A5 has become a staple executive vehicle, featuring all of the style and commodities that and owner could hope for, all packaged into one sleek and streamline car. While the new generation of A5 is more expensive than the Audi A4 it was modelled on, it features a little less space inside, and yet people can’t seem to get enough of them!

Audi A5 Interior

Audi set a high benchmark with their last generation of A5s, creating a sleek and spacious interior that many consumers felt offered more style and substance that anything BMW had to offer at the time. It seems with this generation of Audi A5, the company have made even more refinements and improvements to an already-impressive interior.

The Audi A5 interior offers high quality design and materials with streamline detailing. Features such as a new steering wheel, colours and trim materials further the gap in interior quality between the Audi A5 and comparable BMW 3-Series.

Driving the Audi A5

The Audi A5 doesn’t focus on providing a thrilling sports-like performance, rather a cool, comfortable cruise that has plenty of power under the hood where needed. With this in mind, if you’re looking for a car which delivers responsive feedback, the A5 may not be the car for you. Even if you opt for the AudiDrive Select suspension-tuning, there are more responsive cars on the market for a similar budget.

Under the hood there’s a new 1.8-litre turbo engine in the petrol models, giving an extra 10bhp. However those looking for a more powerful driving experience may want to consider the diesel model; with a 2.0-litre TDI in the lower-end providing a little extra power, and the 3.0-litre V6 TDI model delivering a huge boost in power and performance. The 3.0-litre model is a replacement of the old Audi A5 which packed a 2.7-litre V6 engine, resulting in a 14% increase in power and 30% increase in economy.

Owning the Audi A5

Lower-CO2 engines in the newer generation of Audi A5 make the line-up substantially more eco-friendly than previous models. Equipped with stop-start engines, the new A5 is more economical too, costing less in road tax compared to other, less fuel-efficient equivalents. With various styles also available such as the sleek A5 Sportback model, this particular breed of Audi seems to have something for everyone.

As with most luxury or executive cars, the Audi A5 comes with a premium price tag, however with improved fuel-efficiency, performance, design and interior, those willing to splash out will not be disappointed.
