Dermot O’Leary and The Stig to host new BBC1 motoring show The Getaway Car

If the news of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May taking their new show to Amazon wasn’t enough there is now another motoring show joining the mix in the form of ‘The Getaway Car’.

Former X Factor host Dermot O’Leary will be joining The Stig to host the new Saturday night entertainment show which will see couples competing against each in other in different driving challenges with the final one going up against The Stig.

Value my car

O’Leary is reported in stating that “This is a show that’s really about relationships. We all think we are great drivers, but what tickled me most is seeing how people, who obviously love each other very much, speak to each other when they are behind the wheel of a car. It brings out the worst in all of us… but in a fun way. It’s a warm show that will stretch a family’s patience with those they love most in the world. I had a whale of a time doing the pilot and now can’t wait to make the series.

The new show is set to air in 2016 as part of a 12 part series. But we want to know what you think? Are we being inundated with car shows who are just clamouring to take over the space that the Top Gear trio have left on our screens?
