Autumn’s Car Shows

For car lovers, there is nowhere more at-home to be than at a car show. The shows can be a collaboration between car enthusiasts, they are a source of inspiration, and the sense of community is unparalleled. Many attend a huge range of car shows across the UK, but there’s always one uniting factor – a love of cars.

• Classic and Sports Cars By the Lake
If you’re near to Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk on Sunday 31st August, be sure to head to the Classic and Sports Cars By the Lake show. The show is perfect for families, and last year saw more than 500 vintage (pre and post-war) as well as some more modern classic cars lined up for the viewing.

• Doncaster Classic VW Show
Head north on the A1 from Suffolk, and you’ll find yourself in Doncaster, just in time for the Classic VW show from the 19th – 21st September. Perfect for a little weekend break, the show spans the weekend and is great for kids, and you can bring the dogs too! Expect splitties galore and a good dose of trade selling, too.

• The Footman James Classic Car Show
If you’d prefer to stay west of the Pennines that weekend, why not head down to the The Footman James Classic Car Show in Manchester? Expect a plethora of classic car clubs, trade stands and show cars, as well as restoration workshops and rally action too. The show takes place over the 20th – 21st September at Eventcity – but don’t forget, the show does travel around the rest of the UK too.

• Oktoberfest
No, we’re not talking about the hallmark of Bavarian culture – we’re talking, of course, about the euro-style Volkswagen show taking place in Devon over the 3rd – 5th October. Boasting something a little different to your usual car show, Oktoberfest will combine adventure and entertainment with a good dose of VW spirit.

• Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show
Perhaps one of the latest car shows of the season, the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show takes place 14th – 16th November in Birmingham’s NEC – just to confuse you geographically. As ever, expect plenty of motor action with show vehicles, car clubs, trade stands and an auction.
