Cash in on your car and bag a bargain in the sales

Cash in on your car and bag a bargain in the sales

This year it seems the sales are bigger and better than ever before, with more people, more bargains and more stores competing for business. Even the Harrods' sale started on Boxing Day - the earliest in its illustrious 175 year history.

Retailers are desperately trying to make up for difficult times in 2009 and a Christmas hampered by heavy snow. With plenty of great deals still to be snapped up, webuyanycar.com is seeing an increase in sellers getting rid of unused motors and cashing in on the sales. So if you've been thinking of selling that car, now could be a great time to do it and hit the high street before all the best buys go!

Why it’s better to sell than part-exchange

Why it’s better to sell than part-exchange

Thinking of buying a newer car in 2010? You may want to consider selling instead of part exchanging your car instead. Whilst a part-ex can seem like an easy option, it can leave you £££s out of pocket...

  • Most car dealerships specialise in just one or two car makes - and this proves problematic: they can't give an accurate valuation on a car they don't stock and they don't like to have other makes on the forecourt. So chances are the part-ex valuation received won't reflect your car's true worth.

  • Dealerships don't like to give extra discounts - they want to make as much profit as possible on every car they sell. So even if your car is a make they stock, any existing discount will be bundled up in your part exchange valuation, making it difficult to work out whether or not you're getting a good deal.

  • Negotiate a 'non part exchange discount' - with a cash deposit, you're in a strong position to negotiate what's known in the trade as a 'non part exchange discount'. That way, you'll know exactly where you stand and just how much you're saving.

So why not sell before you buy and get yourself a "non part ex discount"?

webuyanycar.com’s fab 5 for 2010

Okay, so you’ve sold your car to webuyanycar.com – the question is what to buy next? Here are three fab new cars for 2010:

Citroen DS3 Launch: Spring 2010 Price: from £11,700

The new MINI-mimicking Citroen DS3 allows owners to customise according to their personal preferences, with no less than a choice of four contrasting colours for the roof, six different dashboard finishes and even a choice of gear knobs. You also get of five engine variants – all developed by BMW – including a road-tax-free diesel version.

Nissan Cube Launch: January 2010 Price: from £14,000

Built to rival the likes of the Citroen C3 Picasso, the strange looking Cube is curved inside and out, with styling supposedly inspired by a fifties refrigerator! With plenty of space inside for passengers and luggage, the ride is certainly a comfortable and relaxing one as designers have apparently tried to recreate the feeling of being in a jacuzzi. Lovely bubbly!

Nissan Cube
BMW 5 Series Saloon Launch: March 2010 Price: from £28,165

A coupe-like silhouette rings the changes on the new 5 Series. Yet, though sleeker in appearance, inside there seems to be more room compared to previous models. It’s also the first 5 Series to be equipped with BMW’s innovative Auto Start Stop system, which saves fuel by cutting the engine when stationary and starting again when needed.
