August brought a double dose of good news for the UK motor industry and consumers. Used car values continued to climb, with vehicles up in price by an average of £195 compared to July. Peugeot RCZ to rival Audi TT |

After its sizzling debut as a concept car at the Frankfurt Motor Show two years ago, the Peugeot RCZ goes on sale in Spring 2010 as a rival to the all-conquering Audi TT. Remaining true to its concept roots, this car certainly looks the part. Beneath the sleek outer, the RCZ is bursting with joie de vivre. A choice of three engines is topped by a 200bhp 1.6 version, which gets you from 0-62mph in just 7.6 seconds. Just as impressive are the 39.9mpg fuel consumption figures and tax-friendly CO2 emissions of just 159g/km. Prices are under wraps but you can expect to get change from £20,000. Oh la la! |

Born again Lotus Esprit gets V10 makeover |

If you've got fond memories of James Bond's Lotus Esprit in the Spy Who Loved Me, here's something to look forward to. Taking its cue from the wedge shaped Bond mobile; the stylish new Lotus Esprit has the Ferrari F403, Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8 firmly in its sights. With a choice of 6, 8 and 10 cylinders, the top of the range model boasts a thunderous 550bhp power output fuelled by a 4.8 litre engine. An expected 0-60 mph time of less than four seconds puts the Esprit up there with the fastest of the fast. Entry level is at £75,000 rising to an eye-watering £150,000 for the V10. For that price, you'd think it might go underwater like the 007 original! |
