Police use big cats in crime crackdown

Police use big cats in crime crackdown

We all know how useful Police dogs are in nabbing criminals - well now the Police are using big cats!  Police forces up and down the country are currently putting Jaguar's first ever XF Police pursuit vehicle through its paces.  Boasting 271 bhp, a 3.0 litre V6 twin turbo diesel engine and a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds, this kitty will be taking prisoners!

With surprisingly good green creds too including an impressive 35 mpg - it could well be the purrfect choice for today's traffic patrols.

The Ford Capri rides again!

The Ford Capri rides again!

If you have fond memories of The Professionals in full throttle mode, here's some great news: THE FORD CAPRI IS COMING BACK!

Retaining the original's rear-heavy profile with sloping tailgate and C-shaped back window, the new model mixes contemporary touches such as a roof spoiler; split front grille and hungry air intake. Available in a range topping 2.5 litre five cylinder turbo engine - with rumours of an all wheel drive RS version - we think the new Capri would get the thumbs up from Bodie and Doyle.

Satellite navigation nightmares

After reading the latest clutch of sat-nav nightmares, we still can't decide whether they're a help or hinderance!

Take a look at these classics:

  • After being directed onto railway lines, a driver's car was wiped out by a speeding train with the motorist escaping by inches!
  • A 300 year old cottage was rammed as the latest in a number of lost lorry drivers tried to negotiate a single track road in Ashton-under-Lyme.
  • A BMW owner (quiet at the back!) drove over a cliff in Todmorden West Yorks because, yes you guessed it, his sat-nav told him to do it.
  • Following the closure of a nearby main road in Avon, drivers are being re-routed through a 4ft deep ford where they are coming to a very soggy journey's end.
  • In Crackpot (no we're not making this up) in the Yorkshire Dales, drivers are directed via a treacherous s-bend complete with sheer 100 ft drop. Victims include an Argos lorry driver!

Of course - you could always stick to a good old fashioned road map!
